SCMA has been approached by a number of political parties in recent months to help inform their manifesto development for the Scottish Parliamentary election, reflecting the increasing interest in childminding and our work. Instead of publishing our own manifesto, we are sharing our Top 5 Priorities for Childminding which we have been feeding into these discussions.

Easter Holiday Weekend 2026
SCMA Head Office will be closed on Friday 3 April and Monday 6 April for the Easter holiday weekend. We will re-open as normal on Tuesday 7 April.

Scottish Government Funded Programme Stimulates Positive Change for Childminding in Scotland
In 2024, Scottish Government committed funding for ‘The Programme for Scotland’s Childminding Future’, (PSCF), a three-year national childminder retention and recruitment programme. Delivered by the Scottish Childminding Association, (SCMA), the programme undertakes a range of activity to grow the childminding workforce. Backed by a further £1.37m in Scottish Government funding during 2026-27, this April the programme will enter its third year of bringing about positive change for childminding.
