Adopting a professional approach and developing effective partnerships in a childminding service.

An integral part of a professional childminding service is developing effective partnerships with parents. In this course you will learn the benefits of working in partnership with parents, and have access to practical examples of how best to overcome any barriers you may encounter.

The objectives of this course are:

  • To understand why we focus on parental involvement; why it is important, and parental involvement vs. parental engagement.
  • To define the benefits of parental involvement. There are mutual benefits for parents, childminders, children, and society.
  • To discuss the barriers to parental involvement and seek practical solutions to them.
  • To establish meaningful ways of involving parents in your childminding service, in order to contribute to a high-quality service and improve outcomes for children.

  • The vulnerability of the childminder as a lone worker.
  • Roles and responsibilities of the childminder and of key professionals.
  • The development of a child protection statement.
  • Reporting procedures.
