Develop your understanding of STEM, Autism, ADHD, and the senses.

Fully funded and available as e-Learning for all SCMA members

Expanding your knowledge of Autism and ADHD and how this can affect children’s senses. This course encourages play and includes practical learning opportunities for all children within your service particularly those with Autism and ADHD as well as linking to the Curriculum for Excellence.

This course aims to:

  • Help you gain an understanding of Autism and ADHD.
  • Explain how Autism or ADHD can affect children’s senses.
  • Recognise where STEM supports the Curriculum for Excellence.
  • Provide quality play opportunities that link practical learning experiences with theory, where children can learn more about the senses
  • Ensure you are confident as a STEM facilitator focusing on the senses.

This course is fully funded by Education Scotland, available now and will remain accessible for one year from allocation.

By attending this course, you will explore:

  • The vulnerability of the childminder as a lone worker.
  • Roles and responsibilities of the childminder and of key professionals.
  • The development of a child protection statement.
  • Reporting procedures.
Who is it for?
  • New childminders or those who have never previously attended Child Protection training.
